Oil Stick Mix

DESCRIPTION

Oil Stick Mix is an alkyl ether sulfate blend that functions as a multi-purpose air drilling foamer for use in fresh or hard water, heavy crude and brine fluids. It is also used to unload water from gas wells to increase gas production. Treating rates will vary depending on: (1) Water Characteristics , (2) Bottom hole pressure and gas flow rate, (3) tubing depth and size, and (4) hydrocarbon amounts. Oil Stick Mix is effective in a broad range of oil-field brines up to a temperature of 177°C (350°F).

APPLICATION

Drilling foamers are often referred to as “soap”; however, the more appropriate name is surfactant, which is a shortened term meaning surface active agent. Surfactants work at the interfaces between air and water to lower the surface tension, which enables the surfactant to hold air bubbles in a ring of water, lightening the water’s weight (density). Special types of surfactants work both in brine, and in the presence of hydrocarbons. Oil Stick Mix is a blend of different, complex, alkyl ether sulfates that allow it to foam in saturated brines. It is a highly biodegradable foaming agent.

ADVANTAGES

USAGE

Oil Stick Mix should be added to the water in the liquid injector tank downstream of the compressors and booster. The recommended starting concentration is 0.5%, but exact dosage rates are best determined from field tests.
