Cor-Foam Sticks

WHAT ARE COR-FOAM STICKS?

Cor-Foam Stick is a unique chemical stick that contains 100% active ingredients that protect wells from corrosion and produce high amounts of foam. The product is contained in a soluble tube with soluble caps. The tube and caps are completely soluble.

Cor-Foam Sticks are primarily used to remove water from gas wells and increase gas production. This foaming action decreases the hydrostatic back-pressure which increases gas production that further enhances the foaming action until the well unloads. In addition, this product leaves a film on metal surfaces that protects the wells from corrosion. This helps control the effects of Hydrogen Sulfide gas, Carbon Dioxide and low pH conditions that cause corrosion of tubing and casing.

The removal of water from gas wells by foam sticks is a continuous process. The Cor-Foam Stick allows the operator, by its regular usage, to help protect the well from the effects of corrosion.

COR-FOAM STICK ADVANTAGES

Cor-Foam Sticks contain 100% active foamer which is also a 100% active corrosion inhibitor.

The Cor-Foam Stick produces up to four times the amount of foam as similar size hard sticks. The entire stick (tube, cap and contents) are water soluble. The sticks are shipped ready to use and will not dissolve while in cool, dry storage.

Cor-Foam Sticks can develop substantial foam in higher temperature gas wells. Lab tests indicate considerable foam action above 200 degrees Fahrenheit. For extremely high temperature wells the formulation can be altered.

Cor-Foam Sticks are an economical way to remove water from gas wells without using expensive well service operations such as swabbing, jetting with coiled tubing or installing lift and siphon strings.

TREATMENT DETERMINATION AND PROCEDURE

The number of Cor-Foam Sticks used is based on the volume of water above the perforations. Field tests indicate that the best results were achieved by using a larger initial slug treatment of 1/8 to 1/4 percent by weight of Cor-Foam Sticks to water above the perforations. A treatment of 1/8 to 1/4 percent by weight would require .44 to .88 LB of stick per BBL of water.

COR-FOAM STICK SIZES
STICKS PER BBL
SF-100 (1 1/2″ x 18″) .5 to 1
SF-50 (1 1/2″ x 9″) 1 to 2
SF-25 (3/4″ x 15″) 2 to 4

CORROSION PROTECTION

The Cor-Foam Stick contains a filming amine quat salt that helps with corrosion protection of steel surfaces while also being a good foamer. The following size sticks will each give about 40PPM of inhibitor to the shown barrels of production fluid.

STICK SIZE
# OF STICKS
BBL’S/40PPM
3/4″ x 15″ 1 15 BBL
1 1/4″ x 9″ 1 30 BBL
1 1/4″ x 18″ 1 60 BBL

NOTE: For best corrosion protection, inhibitor insertion into the fluid stream should be constant. For intermittent or for extreme corrosive environment, increase number of sticks accordingly.
