Scale•Clear A-250 dissolves carbonate, iron sulfide, and iron oxide scales. It is a liquid product containing both organic and mineral acids, a corrosion inhibitor and a surfactant. The amphoteric surfactant lowers surface tension allowing the acids to more effectively wet the scale deposit.
Scale results from a mineral instability. Crystals form and fall out of solution creating a deposit that grows into a hard mass. Scale deposits limit production, and even stop production in severe cases. Deposits such as calcium carbonate, iron carbonate, magnesium carbonate, iron sulfide and iron oxide scales dissolve when acidified. Calcium sulfate scales are not acid-soluble, but can be converted to an acid-soluble form.
Use Scale Clear A-250 neat from the drum. At least one drums is recommended per treatment. No additional additives are needed since Scale Clear A-250 contains a highly effective wetting agent. Allow a minimum of two hours for ScaleClear A-250 to dissolve scale.
