Aqua-Clear Scale SI-112 Polymeric Scale Control Additive

DESCRIPTION

Polymer-Based Scale•SI-112 prevents calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate and strontium sulfate scales from precipitating out of solution.

CHEMISTRY

Scale usually occurs because the minerals in produced water exceed their saturation limit as temperature and pressures change. Scale also results from mixing incompatible waters. Scale can vary in appearance from hard crystalline material to soft, friable material. Color can vary from black to white, with actual deposits containing many other minerals and impurities such as paraffin, salt and iron.

Scale•SI-112 possesses unusual threshold properties which effectively stabilize conditions of supersaturation. The phenomenon results when Scale•SI-112 is absorbed on the nuclei from which crystallization of scale would normally proceed. The result is an inactivation of the nuclei which prevents precipitation of the scaling products.

APPLICATIONS

Scale•SI-112 must be added to the system by a method which will ensure that the residual product is being produced continuously. Typically feed rates of 2 to 10 ppm are needed for effective scale control.

CONTROL

Scale•SI-112 residuals in brine can be accurately determined by residual analysis.

  • Eliminates well pulling.
  • Prevents heater treater failures caused by scale.
  • Adequate residuals can be easily determined and maintained.
  • Stabilizes iron and manganese scale.
  • Downhole treatment requires no feeding equipment.
  • Effective over a wide range of water qualities.
  • Compatible with anionic foaming agents.
